Today I thank God for …

The heavens declare the Glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork Psalm 19.1

Today I am thankful (and awed) for the fact that God has revealed some of the magnitude of Himself and His wonder to us in His creation of the universe.

I know this sounds a little abstract but it truly is something that whirls around in the cavity of my skull and produces praise to God. Some of the facts from the universe are incomprehendable and staggering to even contemplate.

Did you know that right now you are:

  • Traveling at 66,600 mph around the sun
  • Spinning at 1,070 mph around the earth’s axis
  • Simultaneously hurtling through space around the centre of our galaxy (the Milky Way mmmmm) at 559,234 mph. A trip that will take 225 million years. Are we there yet?
  • And just to make you really dizzy, with respect to our local group of galaxies our galaxy is hurtling through space at around 671,080 mph

And here I thought I was just sitting still and typing this.

For those of you who are more visual jump on down to http://crazylovebook.com/videos.html and watch the video called “The Awe Factor of God” (it should also be embedded below).

Why are the heavens there – to declare God’s glory. Our God is so big and so amazing that in one day he just put this little bit of art work together. And he knows all the stars, their paths, their birth and death and holds it all together. Be amazed and know the God you know.

And for those who think this all happened by chance I have one question – seriously?

Today I praise and thank you God for revealing Yourself to us through Your creation

… his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made … Romans 1.20
