Meet the newest Jones!!

Well we made it to Manila. Ewan and Lydia really enjoyed the flight – once Lydia relaxed as she started to realize it was all going to work OK. We got to our hotel and relaxed for a while and ate some and took naps – well Mark took a nap!! After this we had a lot of fun going to one of the biggest malls in the world – SM Mega Mall. There was even a Marks and Sparks and we bought some Percy (we call them Peppa) Pigs – how to be a hero with your kids. We also managed to get to a huge toy shop and Ewan and Lydia emphasized the gender stereotypes when Lydia went straight to the pink section and Ewan to the super hero section. Lydia choose to get a pink hair brush and some bubble gum hand sanitizer. Ewan choose to buy a a hatchet, spear and bow and arrow set. Got to love our stereotypical guy and girl.

The kids were great and despite huge excitement we all got to bed and sleep pretty early. The plan for 4 people and one bed was that Louise and I would sleep on the bed, Ewan on the ground (he had already chosen that over the bed in the first place) and Lydia on some cushions. That worked until sometime in the middle of the night until Ewan ended up at the bottom, Louise sleeping diagonally, Lydia in a small gap in a corner and Mark straight down. Mark eventually ended up on the floor!!

Around 6.30am we got up and all had showers, ate a lovely buffet breakfast and then got a taxi to the organization who were responsible for Katie. We arrived around 40 minutes early (very not normal for us). When our social worker arrived we left by taxi to the much anticipated meeting. Long story short – she is a darlin’. The kids, especially Lydia, were a little nervous as there were a lot of people but they love her. We were both able to hold her and cuddle her which was great. Louise was also able to ask all the practical questions – what does she like to eat, when does she sleep, etc. Praise God her foster parents are lovely people and seem to have loved her and cared for her enormously. God has already blessed this little girl and we pray we too can be a blessing to her as she joins our family. It was a joy to hear the social workers and foster family refer to us as the parents and Ewan and Lydia as the Kuya and Ate (Filipino for older brother and older sister). This little girl is our new daughter.
