Be killing Sin or Sin will be Killing you

Have you ever felt that the battle against sin as a Christian is just overwhelming or too difficult. That when the Bible says “Be Holy because I am Holy” it’s the ideal, but unattainable?

I just listened to one of the best sermons I’ve heard in a long, long time. It was packed full of theological truth and yet extremely practical. It was by John Piper and was based on this verse:

For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. Romans 8:13

Some of the thoughts I took away from the sermon are:

  • If we are truly followers of God we are at war with our sin – not complacent about it
  • Even though we are at war, we will still lose some battles
  • That I need to know God’s Word better and take time to memorise it and apply it to my personal struggles.

Here’s the link:

I would say that listening to this sermon was an hour well spent.
